Spread Your Wings

Hey lovelies, Tracy here with you today sharing my latest card with you.

As soon as I saw the You Can Fly Stamp set I had this idea that I wanted to create a background behind the wings, it was fun to create and I am going to share with you how I did it.

I started off creating the “base” and used Tonic Shimmer powders to do this, I wanted to it to be quite intense so I went in quite heavy handed with the powders and used a little water as I could.

Once I was happy with how it looked I left it to dry naturally, I have found with these powders thats the best way.

I then trimmed down a piece of white card stock and took the You can Fly die and die cut it out, I also die cut a piece of vellum out using the same die.

I was going to heat emboss the sentiment but sometimes you just cannot go wrong with black ink so I used the that with the Spread your wings sentiment.

I stamped the detailed stamp onto the vellum and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I really wanted dimension with these piece so I scored along the edge of the butterfly body.

I then lined the base up under the die cut area and adhered it into place. Now the tricky bit was adhering the vellum butterfly, I did use Multi Medium Matte and you can see a couple of spot through the vellum, this didn’t bother me but you could easily cover it up if it bothers you. I lined the butterfly up with the die cut area and adhered it into place.

I stuck the whole panel to a card base and was going to leave it there but it looked too clean and simple so I added some sequins to finish it off.

 

 

The wings fold flat for mailing and if you wanted to add something a little extra you could colour the wings using Copics or similar. 

This is such a pretty and versatile set that I can see becoming a firm favourite.
