Guest Designer Terri Burson

I’m so happy to be designing today with the newest release from Pink & Main, “Sweet Halloween“.  I first met owner and designer Michelle Currie back in 2014, when I was the Guest Blogger for the Craft and Hobby Association’s Paper Arts trade show in Atlanta.  Since then we run into each other at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo and give virtual waves online.

Today, I’m sharing three projects that feature the stamps and dies from the Sweet Halloween collection, starting with this trio of caramel apples, one of my favorite Fall treats!

This is a multi-layered card featuring the October 31st paper collection from Doodlebug Design.  I’ve used my Zig Clean Color brushes for my apples (and all my coloring today), adding a little glossy accents and “nuts”, and finishing with a white satin crushed ribbon bow that I splattered with October Sprinklers misting spray.

I wanted to show you how I made my caramel apple with “nuts”.  If you’re familiar with Flower Soft, it’s  dimensional, fuzzy bits that you glue together; great for adding snow, grass ,etc, to your projects.  I added Flower Soft glue to my colored apple, then sprinkled on Polar White Flower Soft, pressing down gently and dusting off any excess.

Next, I dabbed a little bit of my TH Brushed Corduroy distress paint dabber onto my craft mat and pressed my flower soft embellished apple into the paint.  I totally love it and it was so easy to do!  Any beige or light brown paint will do.

My next project is a quick and easy CAS card and great for making multiples for friends or kids in the classroom.

I did a little paper piecing (using the same paper collection as above), for the cupcake face only.  I colored the bat wings and cupcake liner, then cut out the images using the Sweet Halloween dies and my Cuttlebug.  Then, I stamped my images again, on the designer paper and fussy cut the face outline and popped it out with foam tape.  You can’t tell from the pictures but everywhere that you see black, I added more coloring with my Kaisercraft black glitter pen.  I also used a white gel pen for the fangs.

My last project is a shaker tag for a treat bag, using those sweet little candy corn stamps and dies and the cute little eye stamps.

To make this tag, I cut a piece of designer paper and vellum in the shape of a tag.  I used my WRMK fuse to fuse all but one side, and also fusing a little square at the top of my tag where I was able to punch a hole for my twine and/or ribbon.  Once I tossed in my additional colored candy corns, sequins and seed beads (28 Lilac Lane embellishment kit), I fused that last side and added an additional candy corn and embellishment on the outside of the tag.  Isn’t it adorable?
