Wow, That’s Me on TV Sharing the Joys of Papercrafting!

The last few months have been a bit unreal press-wise. I am no stranger to podcast interviews or talking to media and sharing insights about our craft within the industry but have not been in the spotlight with the consumer press. Until now. Late last year, I found myself and our store the subject of an article “Well-Crafted – Pink and Main is personalizing papercrafting in Palmetto” by Kate Wight. The story and photos ran in print and online editions of the December 2024 issue of SRQ magazine in Sarasota, Florida.

As 2025 started, the interviews continued. Am I in a dream? I found myself on a pre-Valentine’s segment on TV’s ABC7 Sarasota – WWSB, Suncoast View. I must admit that I don’t like watching myself on live TV, but the segment turned out great.

That on-air interview was followed by a full-page article in the Feb. 21-27 issue of the Florida Business Observer, “In the Cards – Papercrafting company Pink and Main fills a niche that big-box retailers can’t do, according to owner Michelle Currie” by Elizabeth King. The link above is to the online version of the article. Not to mention, Bradenton Magazine contacted us to run our press release highlighting Pink and Main’s design team on their website.

Was I nervous to be interviewed and have my photo taken as well as photos of our shop outside the comfort zone of the field? Absolutely. I’m a bit on the shy side and would rather be in the interviewer seat and ask about you, the Pink and Main fan, learn your story, and focus on our craft together rather than talk about me with a reporter.

Despite my reserved nature, I realize that it’s an honor to be sought out and given a platform to talk about the benefits of papercrafting with the public. After all, “it’s a sad dog that can’t wag its own tail,” as the saying goes.

As an owner, an artist and a female entrepreneur who is wheelchair-dependent with a form of Muscular Dystrophy, I feel in my heart that describing the Pink and Main journey and talking about the products we sell that help you make amazing handmade cards is worth overcoming my fears of taking center stage. And, if I can help inspire others along the way or encourage the uninitiated to try our craft, even better.

Hopefully, I’ll get many more chances to talk with the press and reach the public at large. Any media exposure we receive draws attention to the awesomeness of cardmaking, which is about doing what you love, watching your ideas unfold on paper, and sharing those creations with your family, friends and co-workers. It’s a wonderful, innovative and healthy outlet for our creative energy that can make a difference in our own lives as well as others.

I am thankful to have the opportunity to share our story far and wide, within the industry and to the masses. My dream to turn my love of stamping, cardmaking, foiling and more into a full-blown business came true. Best of all, Pink and Main, its fans worldwide, and our designers as well as our production crew, continue to make that dream blossom and grow.

Thank you, Pink and Main customers. Without you, none of these press opportunities, moments in the spotlight, and the success of Pink and Main would be possible.

Keep on creating and following your dreams!
