Happy New Year!

Hi everyone! Samantha here on the Pink and Main Blog wishing everyone a Happy New Year and so excited to share a fun slimline card featuring the new Cocktail Dies and Behind the Bar Dies. I was so excited when I saw these new die sets and the accompanying Retro Cocktails Stencil. I couldn’t wait to create a card perfect for New Years Eve.

To start, I looked through the new So Retro Patterned Papers and selected this fun teal paper to use as my background. Selecting my pattern paper first helps me to decide what the color palette will be used for all of my elements.

Next I grabbed some 80lb smooth white cardstock from my stash as well as some brushed metallic cardstocks. I die-cut my Old Fashioned elements as well as my alcohol bottles from white cardstock before die-cutting the ice bucket and ice scooper from gold and silver brushed metallics.

Next I placed my white die cuts onto a sticky mat and applied ink to each layer using the Retro Cocktails Stencil. I used dye inks from my stash for all of the ink blending except for the cocktail. You may notice some subtle ice cubes I added with white pigment ink.

Once my stenciling was complete, I assembled all of my elements using the guides on the back of the packaging before moving onto my background.

I first cut a slimline card base measuring 3.5″ by 8.5″ when folded from white card stock. Next, I trimmed my pattern paper to 3.5″ x 7.5″ and using some scraps of brushed gold card stock I added a 1/8″ edge to each side of the pattern paper as shown above before gluing the panel to my card base.

Once my card base was complete, I arranged all of my die cut elements as shown using both glue and thin foam tape to create layers and dimension. To finish everything off, I cut a Cheers sentiment from the new Cheers dies from brushed gold cardstock. I also cut a few more Cheers layers from scrap to glue to the back for added dimension. Once everything was adhered, I added a few gold embellishments from my stash and my card is complete and ready for a night out on the town.

Thank you so much for reading!
