Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!
It’s Savannah O’Gwynn, and I’m back to share a colored creation using the newest P&M products and release!!! This time I created a few colored images with a custom background using homemade stencils!
SLTC#41, Colored Image #44 + Lessons Learned + Mistakes
SLTC#41 image #44: This card was super fun to make! I love making my own backgrounds using dies and homemade stencils. Here’s how I created this card:
- Create tree stencil by die cutting cardboard using P&M Little Trees dies **OPTIONAL: You can use all different trees for a fun forest look!
- Use stencil to create forest background– I used multiple different colors for each tree 🙂
- Add a trunk to each tree by placing masking tape under stenciled images– be sure to line the tape up in the middle of the tree (this is was my first #mistake😂)
- Mask trees and trunks using masking paper; ink background
- Stamp, color, and die cut images
- Stamp sentiment under forest images
- Add die cut images
LL (Lessons Learned) + Mistakes: There are a couple of mistakes that taught me lessons while making this card! First, you need to make sure your “trunks” are lined up in the center of your stenciled trees. LOL🙃 I don’t think it’s life or death but you can kind of tell that my trees are wonky!
I also learned that you shouldn’t press too hard while adding ink with stencils. This pressure will break your inking brush! LOL! I definitely have a hard hand when inking- LOL! Because I’m cheap, I will still use this brush top and hopefully I will be “lighter” when brushing ink onto projects😉
Another lesson I learned was that even with color combos (see THIS post for details about color combos), I STILL had to color these images 5x!! I’m not sure why I couldn’t get the colors right… but I finally did and I think they are super cute:)
Overall, I think this card has a fun, fall theme!!! It’s perfect for just about anyone ❤️
I hope my friendship card and homemade tree stencils have inspired you to pull out your P&M goodies and create a something today!
I’ll be back with MORE soon— be sure to check out my IG page HERE because I’m posting about my mom’s P&M creations this weekend!!! FINALLY!!!!
Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use these P&M stamp/die sets so I can leave you some love ❤️
THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!
Hugs ❤️ Savannah
