Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!
It’s Savannah O’Gwynn, and I’m back to share a colored creation using the newest P&M products and release!!! I’m really enjoying getting some of my Christmas and holiday cards completed BEFORE December 30th! LOL! I’ve been known to send out cards late or not even until the next year because I was late in creating them! LOL!
SLTC#38, Colored Images #40-41 + Lessons Learned + Mistakes
SLTC#38 image #40-41: These cards are very simple to create! I was inspired by my own creation from 2020 HERE.
These little gingerbread people from the P&M Sugar + Spice Holidays sets are just the CUTEST!!! I wanted to highlight them by using a CAS card design with an inked highlight background, “glitter snow” (see below for how to create this snow!), and a little washi tape.
You need two items to create the snow: P&M 1/4 EZ Tear Tape (any size will do actually) and Ice Rink glitter. Just lay down the tape, remove the backing, and apply the glitter. You can roll the tape a bit to make it look like snow mounds or you can layer the tape to make it have more depth. I love adding this element on my holiday cards!!!
LL (Lessons Learned): So this post was supposed to have only ONE card… but while coloring the first gingerbread image, guess what?! I messed up😂 I started over… but then realized that my image wasn’t ruined like I thought! I guess that would be a happy accident, almost a mistake! LOL! I guess the ink settled (blended) as I colored the second gingerbread person. The one on the pink card does have streaks on her face… but it is fine! I’m embracing that #mistake!
I learned that my coloring isn’t as well developed as I’d like it to be. There are streaks and there are heavier lines of darker color… but I’m still working on learning! ****Don’t look too close to my images! You will see MANY mistakes! Isn’t it funny how a camera picks up on these things🙃
One thing I have found helpful on my coloring journey is having a notebook of color combos that work for different images. This little notebook has a swipe of color, the color name/number, and then sometimes I write which image I used the color combo on or I write the color layers incase I wrote it out wrong (see left side of notebook! LOL!). I only have three pages full of color combos at the moment… maybe when I get MORE alcohol ink pens then I can start branching out. Either way, I’m liking this new system and working on MORE combos:) This system really is helpful when coloring!!!
I hope my holiday cards have inspired you to pull out your P&M goodies and create a something today! Maybe try making some “glittered snow” on your project!!!
I’ll be back with MORE soon— be sure to check out my IG page HERE because I will be sharing 4 cards that my Mom made while she was here visiting! She used lots of P&M goodies on her creations!!! She’s a natural and who I get all of my crafty genes from, for sure!!!
Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use these P&M stamp/die sets so I can leave you some love ❤️
THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!
Hugs ❤️ Savannah
