Savannah Learns to Color #33: Magical Birthday Shaker Card

Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!

It’s Savannah O’Gwynn, and I’m back to share a rainbow, glittered, shaker birthday card using the newest P&M goodies! **Be sure to continue reading- I share just how many P&M goodies I use!!

SLTC#33, Colored Image #37

I could NOT wait to create a card using these unicorn images from the Chasing Rainbows set. And once my husband told me the Rainbow Cascade die set looked the Atari logo, I knew I had to use it for this birthday card! **Remember the Atari?!?! I loved playing that at my Granny’s house! I liked Frogger and another one similar where a man had to jump on the ice to get across. (sigh) Those were the good old days!

#SAVfact: I cannot skate for the life of me! I have really bad balance! I’m better at the regular four wheeled skates, but I definitely cannot
do the inline skates! I’m kind of jealous of this unicorn and how it’s skating with one leg up! LOL! I’d be in the hospital if that were me 🤣

This shaker card is super fun to look at, and it was so much fun to put together! I wanted a to use several P&M cardstock colors for the Atari rainbow and added matching rainbow hair for the unicorn; I also wanted glitter for the little pieces of the rainbow to help make it fresh and light. I just love how this card turned out!

What I wasn’t expecting was how many supplies I needed for this card! Total number of P&M goodies used on this card: 21 (see list below)!!!!!!! I should start counting how many supplies I use on my cards 🙃 It just might surprise you (and me) how many supplies I use for each card.

Lessons Learned

So I learned a few things on this card…

👉🏻First, make sure you color EVERYTHING on your image! I totally forgot to color her belly and it looks so weird! LOL!

👉🏻Second, you should save ALL of your scraps! I was able to add glitter to the scrap white pieces without having to start with fresh die cut pieces. Saving those little scraps helped save me time on this card! I also have the extra other color Atari rainbow pieces so I could technically make five more of these shaker cards using those scraps!!

👉🏻Third, I wish I would have used my P&M Shaker Covers for this card… but I wasn’t thinking. I created a basic shaker with clear acetate, foam pieces, and a topper (the white rectangle). Next time for sure— that would have made this card easier to make! LOL!

👉🏻Fourth, add MORE confetti than you think you should! I never know how much confetti to put into a shaker… and my thought AFTER I’ve sealed the card front is always: MORE CONFETTI!

I hope my card has inspired you to pull out your P&M goodies and create a shaker card today!

I’ll be back with MORE to share soon! Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use these P&M stamp/die sets so I can leave you some love ❤️

THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!! Hugs ❤️ Savannah
