Savannah Learns to Color #28: Sweet Surprise

Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!

It’s Savannah O’Gwynn, and I’m back to share another colored image using some NEW P&M goodies!

In case you were wondering, I’ve been MIA due to a recent move! My husband and I moved a few weeks back, and everything in my studio is in boxes! LOL! I cannot wait to get everything organized so I can create more. I was able to find a few supplies and whipped this card up the other day- I’m really enjoying this new release!

SLTC#28, Colored Image #30

It’s been awhile since I’ve colored an image since I’ve been packing, moving, and unpacking. LOL! I won’t lie- I was a bit nervous when I started coloring this cute little mouse from the P&M Mice Cream set. I started off with a pink mouse and orange sherbet… but decided to keep that image for another card. I landed on a gray mouse, pink sherbet, and a summary pink/aqua background.

SLTC Lesson: I tried something new with my coloring. Even though I’ve been gone I have been keeping up with the P&M DT posts (**NOTE: I am in awe of their talent and coloring skills!!!). I noticed that several use “dots” to create shading for images. I really didn’t know what I was doing, but I figured that adding these dots to the darker areas would make the shadows pop more or make it have more dimension. So here’s what I did—> I randomly added darker dots to the “shaded” areas of the sherbet and even on the cone.

I also added embossing ink to the sprinkles by using a pen tip to color in the sprinkle images using this ink! I thought the P&M Sangria embossing powder would be the perfect touch and look of sprinkles.

Overall: I had fun coloring these images!!! It wasn’t like riding a bike, but I think I added to my coloring skills with these dots:)

**BONUS TIP

Notice how my embossed rays from the NEW Light Rays embossing folder on the Dress Shop cardstock are a bit “diagonal” instead of vertical or horizontal?! I cut along the red dotted line on my folder and then inserted my paper diagonally to achieve this look! **NOTE: No embossing folder was harmed during the making of this card— even though it is cut, it still performs perfectly! LOL🙃

I hope my card inspires you to pull out your P&M goodies and create today by coloring or by cutting your own stencil!!!

I’ll be back with MORE to share soon! Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use these P&M stamp/die sets so I can leave you some love ❤️

THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!

Hugs ❤️ Savannah
