Hey there! Katie here today. We are dying here on the west coast, no AC and record breaking temps in the 100+. Depending on wher eyou live, you might not have any sympathy for me and that is OK. But yesterday was my birthday and I wished I was a mermaid for the day so I could play in the cool water. That wish has yet to come true, but it still might… 😉 For now, I will live vicariously through these sweeties.
I love all things water and summer, makes sense as I am a crabby Cancer. LOL. But this mermaid set was just sooooo fun to play with. Here is how I made this card.
I started by stamping out the images from the Be A Mermaid set and had a whole ton of fun coloring them with my Copics. You’ll notice the whole rainbow in here. I used BG49, BG45, BG32, BG15, BG13, R37, R35, R22, R14, RV06, RV04, RV02, RV24, V17, V15, V12, Y38, Y35, Y15, Y13, YR23, YR04, B05, B02, B01, YG67, YG25, YG11, E15, E13, E00, E02, W5, W3, W1, W0, G00. Then I cut them out with the coordinating Be a Mermaid Dies. I added some white highlights and set them all aside. Next, I pulled out some pool cardstock and used die cut some waves using the Wave Border Dies to create layers. Next, I used my Mini Ergonomic Brushes to color portions of the waves and the ocean with Peacock Distress Oxide and used some Ink on 3 Shark Tooth White at the top.
I cut out a base in white using the scallop slimline from the Sympathy Slim Line dies. I added a little tumbled glass to the top to make it look like the sky, stamped my sentiment and then mounted all my layers. Once I knew where I wanted to place my elements, I added some bubbles and added color and highlights to them. Then I mounted all my characters.
It is hard to decide which character is my fave. What about you, do you have one? I actually sat her and tried to pick one and they alre all so lovely that I couldn’t!
Where ever you are, I hope they temperature is just right or you are out swimming with the mermaids. Hoping you have a most amazing day today and thanks for visiting! ~Katie
Super cute card and beautiful coloring! Hope you get to play in the water soon! 😉
