Dinosaur Valentine

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here from donnaisplayingpaper. I have a sweet Valentine’s Day card for you today. I know that dinosaurs are usually used on little boy cards, but these two meeting in front of the bricks behind the building are, I suspect, a little older than that!

To create the brick wall background, I used the smallest of the Mod Stitched Rectangle Dies, and cut several of these from white card. I mounted these onto a Kraft coloured card, offsetting the rectangles to give the appearance of a brick wall. You do need to suspend all sense of proportion, because the bricks are the height of half a dinosaur, but photo realism wasn’t my aim here!

I stamped several small sentiments from a couple of stamp sets onto the bricks to resemble graffiti. These sets were Little Cherubs, and Rawr. I used black and a little orange ink, and I lined up the ‘Rawr’ speech bubble with one of the dinosaur heads.

The dinosaurs are from the Rawr stamp set. This set has dinosaurs in several sizes (so I could have made a better size match, but I fell in love with this sweet pair) I stamped these and coloured them with Copic markers. The colours I used were YR68, 65 & 61, for the oranges, and G99, YG67, 25 and 23 for the greens. I cut the images using the matching dies.

I popped the dinosaurs up with foam tape, and the card was done! I think this makes a lovely change from my usual red and pink for Valentines. I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun little card, and that you are staying safe and well wherever you are.

Until next time, may your dinosaurs all be pint sized.

Blessings,

Donna
