Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here again, and I have a card today that I’m so pleased with. I have used a mix of Copics and Polychromos pencils to colour the leaves on this card, and I really love the gentle colour palette.
To make this card, I first stamped a mix of leaves from the Beach Unicorn and Let’s Flamingle ( don’t you love that name – it’s one of the sentiments in the set!) stamp sets with pale ink onto a piece of white card. I then coloured the leaves, each with a single pale Copic green. For the leaf with the narrow central stem, I only coloured the leaves and left the centre blank. Copics are NOT designed for such thin spaces!
I then added pencil details, pressing super lightly and concentrating the colour around the stems and edges of the leaves. The last step in the coloring was to add a drop shadow behind each leaf with my C2 Copic marker.
I’m rather proud of the sentiment banner. I wonder if you recognise it? It’s the matching die for one of the lanterns from the May release! I have cut the lantern shape out, then reversed the die and cut the other end. I then laid this piece onto a layer of green card and carefully cut around it, leaving a margin. The sentiment stamp is from the Succulents stamp set. Because the cursive word that runs through this sentiment is so delicate, my recommendation is to use pigment ink, which won’t sink into the paper, and to press the stamp down veeeery gently! This gives a nice crisp image.
To complete the card, I have used foam tape to pop up the sentiment. Other than that I thought I’d let the leaves shine for this card, so I’ve left the card without embellishment.
I hope that this card has given you the inspiration to try some no line colouring, as this is definitely an achievable look with repeated sections of leaves to practice on.
