Hi everybody and welcome back! It’s Laurie back with a cute and fun New Year’s card featuring one of the sweet llamas from the Fa La Llama stamp set. This set has made it to my favourites list this year! This card features some ink blending and of course, lots of sparkle!!
I started by using the third largest die from the Stitched Rectangles Set 2 dies to cut a piece of light blue cardstock. When inking a winter or night time sky, starting with the blue cardstock really cuts down the blending time and gives perfect results! Just focus on the outer edges, blending inwards and it looks like you’ve spent a long time getting this blend!!
After the panel was inked with Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Inks, I used some white acrylic paint mixed with a bit of water to add some splatters. This adds so much to your sky!
I coloured and cut the llama using the co-ordinating dies. I decided to leave the string of lights white as I knew I was going to use silver accents on this card. I did add a generous amount of sparkle using a Sakura Glitter pen though! The hill die cut comes from the Holiday Scene Dies which I trimmed down to fit inside the stitched rectangle. Before foam mounting the snowy hill, I silver heat embossed “Happy New Year” which comes from the Holly Jolly sentiment set.
To glam up the card even more, I die cut three stars from the Stitched Stars Dies out of Silver Sparkle Paper and used a combination of foam tape and liquid glue to adhere them.
And that’s the finished card! A little colouring, die cutting and “cheater ink blending” made this card pretty quick to make!
Thanks so much for dropping in today! This is my last post of the year so I’ll wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
See you in 2020!
Laurie
