A Bold Fa La Llama Card

Hey everyone. It’s Dana here with you today. The October release is in full swing and I know you must be loving it as much as I am. So today I’m using two of the products from the release, Fa La Llama and Bold Holiday stamp sets. So let’s get started.

To create my card today I started a colorful background using oxide inks. I started off with a light blend to create the color shift between the green and the red so I would not get a muddy brown color. Once I completed that I was able to build up my color and smooth out the blending completely. I lightly spritzed the paper with water to get some highlights. I ran an anti-static bag across the paper to remove any static and then stamped the Bold Holiday stamp set in Versamark and heat set it with arctic white embossing powder. I layered this panel onto gold mirror card stock and set it side so I could work on my llama.

I pulled out a few Copic makers to match my background and got busy coloring. This little llama is just too cute with it’s stocking and presents. I stamped out a few more individual presents to create a little scene around may llama. There are four llamas in this set and all of them are just precious. Once I had my llama and presents colored it was time to put the card together.

I kept my card very simple. I popped the llama up on foam tape and then placed the additional presents around him. Two of them were glued directly to the background and the other one was popped up with foam tape. At this point I felt like I need to add just a few additional elements. I grabbed a metallic gold pen and hand drew in some little stars around the sentiment. Once that was complete I still felt like the card was missing something. So I watered down some white gouache and splatted it on the background to look like snow. Next I colored two clear glossy dots with a red Copic marker and placed them on two corners of the panel. All that was left was to add this panel to a white card base. This white card base is made from the Pink and Main 110lb Ice Ink card stock.

Here is a closeup of my card. Look how stinking cute that little llama? I hope I have inspired you today to make some simple cards this holiday season. I’ll see you back here next week with more inspiration from the October release. Have a great day everyone.
