Sweet Carousel

Hi there! Jeannie back today and I hope you’ve been all enjoying the January release. Everything has been pretty amazing right? I’m blown away from the new sets!

When I first saw the Sweet Carousel set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. Aren’t these images perfect for a spinner card? And what else do horses on a carousel do other than spin?

I set out to create a really simple version since these images were pretty large so I only needed one. I basically grabbed a piece of acetate to help me create a mirror image of the stamp. I stamped it one on cardstock and then stamped the same image on a piece of acetate. I used the image on acetate and pressed it against the cardstock, transferring the image. It wasn’t perfect but I ended up outlining the image again to darken the lines. Once I finished coloring them, I die cut the images using the coordinating Sweet Carousel dies. For the mirror image, I had to die cut on the backside of the image.

I used a piece of paper from the new Watercolor Foil paper pad (it’s so freaking pretty!) and I picked a color that matched the horse’s mane. I think it works really well. I used one of the Stitched Rectangles 2 dies to cut out a window for the carousel. I used transparent sewing thread, stuck it in between the two images and wrapped it around the top and bottom of the card.

If you spin the image and close the card, the card is ready to go. Once the recipient opens the card, the little carousel will spin. If you’re curious to see it in action, visit my instagram page… I’ll have a short video showing it in action.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed today’s card.
