What is the best way to use own stamped background and draw attention to the focal image?

This time I featuring the designers’ favourite stamps set from the January release – Life Is A Circus.

Have you noticed that own stamped background is dominating the card and any focal image will not attract attention? Often only a sentiment banner will work with such background.

How to make a focal image stand out?

To make this card I started with stamping three rows of seals in black alcohol marker friendly ink down onto a soft cream card stock to give my card a slightly vintage look.

Next, I coloured the seals impressions with alcohol markers almost flat and added shades with a soft grey marker.

Once again I used my preferred technique for cards – Die Cutting on The Edge.

I partially die cut a master of the ring from a white card note, trimmed off the right part of the card front and stamped the image.

Having coloured the ring master’s impression with alcohol markers, I have masked off the image with a masking paper.

With a help of two pieces of acetate I created rays of light onto the card note to balance the overall composition and bring attention to the focal image.

Prior to assembling the card I stamped down a sentiment from the same set – Have the greatest day on earth in black archival ink.

To assemble my card I glued the cream panel with the seals inside the partially die cut card note with a help of two-sided high tack tape.

My card is bright enough and does not require embellishment, but I decided to add dimension to it.

I die cut tickets from a light blue card stock and stamped them in black archival ink.

I adhered these tickets with a super thick foam tape onto the card.

I have demonstrated an easy way to make the focal image stand out onto the stamped background by visually dividing the card panel, using the partial die cutting technique for the focal image and creating rays of light pattern.
