Rainbow and Plaid Backgrounds with Pattern Maker

Hello!  It’s Andrea with you sharing two cards featuring the new Pattern Maker stamp set.  This set is so versatile, enabling you to make so many different backgrounds.  The sky is the limit!

For my first card I decided to create a rainbow background with the largest, solid stripe from Pattern Maker.  Using my MISTI, I inked up the stamp with the following colors of Surface Ink:  Stop Sign, Construction, Street Light (with The Park on top), The Park, Riverwalk, and Barber Shop.  To create the purple, I stamped Salon over Riverwalk.  These inks are so juicy and easy to stamp with, and the colors are just gorgeous!

To give my stripes a little more interest, I stamped images from Thinking of You Always (the flower, stem, and dots) and Doodled Flowers (leaf) with Asphalt Surface Ink.  Prior to stamping, I masked above the red stripe with post-it tape.

Using my MISTI, I stamped the sentiment from Thinking of You Always with Asphalt and then again with Versamark.  After clear heat-embossing the sentiment, I adhered the panel to a top-folding, white card and added some clear sequins.

For my second card, I created a Buffalo plaid with two different stamps from Pattern Maker.  The stamp for the pink lines actually has four lines  with a small space in between each pair of lines.  As I only wanted two lines, I masked off the other two with post-it tape before stamping.  I used Asphalt ink for the dark gray stripes and Rose Garden for the pink ones.  I adhered my stamped panel to a top-folding, white card.

From a 4 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ rectangle of white cardstock, I used one of the stand-alone dies from the Butterfly Cover Dies to die-cut the butterfly.  I love that the die cuts out the wings, allowing you to pop them up while keeping the body intact!  Using one of the other dies from the set, I die-cut the body from black cardstock and adhered it in between the wings.

After backing the panel with dark pink cardstock, I adhered it to my card and added a stripe of the pink cardstock where the two panels overlapped.  I really liked how clean the panel was so opted not to add a sentiment.  To add some sparkle, I affixed some black gems around the butterfly.

Thanks for stopping by!
