Highlight colouring using die cut masks

Are you starting to think about Christmas cards yet?

It’s Donna here, and I’m just starting to get onto mine. The thing about Christmas cards for me is that I make a lot, so I can’t spend an hour or two on each card. I want them to be unique, but I have to work smart.

Here’s what I came up with…

This card uses the delicious ‘Sweet Christmas’ stamp set, and masks which I cut with the matching dies. This leaves a little white border around the images, which is a lovely design feature, and saves a lot of time that would be spend fussy cutting masks.

Next I coloured just the highlight areas on the card. This saves time, but mainly it stops the card from being too ‘busy’. I used Copic markers in the traditional Christmas colours of red and green, blending in the larger areas, and just adding single colours in the little spaces like this straw.

I hope this gives you some ideas for Christmas cards of your own. I look forward to sharing more cards with you very soon.

Donna
