Field of Flowers – No line colouring

Hello crafty friends. It’s Donna here, with a card that was originally going to be something else. I coloured the flowers, and was starting on the critters. At that point I decided to cut the flowers and see what I had. They ended up scattered on a piece of white paper, and I loved the effect so much that I decided to use it as the basis for my card. Have you ever had that moment half way through a card when you decide to change tack entirely?

These sweet flowers come from the Sketched Easter stamp set and I have coloured them in a way that is a little like no line colouring, but not exactly the same. I first stamped the images in yellow ink. I chose yellow because I knew that it could blend into both green and pink. I then used a damp paint brush to soften the lines, and basically paint the whole image yellow using just the ink from the stamping, and no extra colour. You can still see the yellow ink remaining in parts of the images below.

Next, I came in with distress markers in dark green and a dusty pink colour. I did a mix of scribbling on some plastic and then painting the colours on, as well as adding colour with the the brush nib directly to the image and spreading it with my water brush.

Finally I added back a few details with the pen end of the markers in yellow, pink and green. Depending on how wet the images were, these sometimes stayed crisp and sometimes flowed a little.

The sentiment for this card comes from the same stamp set. I stamped it in clear embossing ink and used used a pale green embossing powder to match the images. I wrapped the vellum sentiment piece around my central panel which I cut using the second largest of the Stitched Rectangles set 1 dies.

I mounted the panel onto a card with fun foam, and my card was done. I really love the restful look of this new stamp set from Pink and Main, and I think the white on white of the cards makes it even more calm.

I hope your week is wonderful and that you get at least a little time to get crafty. Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna
