Butterfly magic

I am so in love with these butterflies!

Hello everybody! It’s Donna here and I’m so excited to be on the Pink and Main Design Team.  I have been having so much fun playing with the new release (you’re going to love it!)

Today I have a little sneak look at a die and a little of a stamp set that will be released SO SOON!

I have used the Butterfly Cover Die to cut both the base panel and the butterflies on top. Firstly, I cut the whole base from a piece of white card stock. I kept both the butterfly panel and the smaller stitched rectangle to use on the card. I popped the butterfly panel up on some fun foam, running adhesive along the back of the butterflies so that they would stay flat.

Next I coloured a piece of watercolour paper (you can spot the Australian by the spelling here!) using Color Burst and Brusho powders in a range of colours – yellows, reds, pinks and magenta.

Then came the part where my cutting machine really got a workout! I cut out 20 butterflies from this paper, being careful to get a range of colours. I glued these on top of the butterflies on the white card, using just a tiny bit of strong glue in the middle of each butterfly, leaving the wings clear.

I then cut the tiny bodies 20 times from black cardstock, and glued them on top of the wings. Once the glue was dry, I carefully lifted the wings of each butterfly. I adore the flyaway look that this gives them.

To make the sentiment panel I stamped ‘believe you can fly’ from the “You Can Fly” stamp set. I used Pink and Main Surface inks in the colours ‘Construction’ and ‘Stop Sign’. I’ve been really impressed with these inks, especially with the way they blend.

I then glued this sentiment panel down flat onto the card base to complete the card.

I’lll leave you with one last look at the butterflies, looking like they’re about to head out into my backyard. We’ll soon be exchanging this view for life in Tokyo, so I thought I’d better squeeze it in while I could!

I look forward to sharing more of this fabulous release with you soon!

Until next time, happy crafting.

Donna
