Butterflies on gold

Hello!

Donna here sharing a card which mixes the very latest Pink and Main release with an older favourite of mine.

I’ve used the Herringbone Stencil and gold embossing paste to create the background for this card. I taped the card to the stencil (on the back) so that the stencil wouldn’t move while I used it. Once the paste was all spread ( it’s a lot like spreading butter, or in the case of an Aussie girl like me, vegemite!) I cleaned off the stencil and palette knife straight away before the paste dried on them. Once the panel was dry, I trimmed it to 5 by 3 3/4 inches so that the red of my chosen card base would show all the way around as a border.

I stamped the beautiful butterfly image from You Can Fly in Versamark ink and coloured it with zig clean color real brush markers. Because of the stained glass look of this stamp, I chose not to shade, but rather to add the colour in blocks. I then cut the butterfly with the matching die. (Not having to hand cut those feelers is an absolute gift!) I used foam tape to give the butterfly some dimension.

The sentiment is from the wonderful happy stamp and die. I cut the word ‘happy’ once from the Happy die, and adhered it to the card using a mix of foam tape and glue so that it sat straight on the card.

The word everything comes from the Happy For You stamp set that matches the die, and I heat embossed this in white on black card stock for contrast. I also popped this up with foam tape.

This card uses colours that I hardly ever venture into, so it was nice to be stretched into new territory. I hope this inspires you to create something new yourself.

Until next time, happy everything!

Blessings,

Donna
