Autumn wreath two ways

Hello crafty friends. It’s Donna here again, with two variations using the Wreath Base die set and smaller images from the Fall Wreath Decor dies.

First I coloured scraps of watercolour paper using by blending ink in Autumn colours and splashing these with water to give some colour variation.

I used a mix of reds, oranges and yellows for the pumpkin, leaf and acorn dies and a mix of greens for the the wreath. From the red and burgundy piece I cut the sentiment and a few extra bits in the gaps.

I went back and forth between a gold background and the white which I eventually decided on. Both looked good, but quite different to each other. So that the white wouldn’t be too stark, I splashed some watercolours in the same colours as the feature images across the background, going in the same direction as the flow of the wreath – that is, top left to bottom right.

This version of the card was very easy to assemble. Once I had everything where I wanted it, I took a quick photo with my phone so if things moved around (and they did!) I could see where they had come from. I glued everything flat to the card, so the only dimension comes from the layering of the pieces, except for the “hello” which has two layers of white card stock behind it.

The second card I made was a shaker card, using the small pieces as the shaker element. I die cut some additional leaves from gold card stock as well as adding a gold strip to anchor the sentiment.

To construct this card, I cut a circle from the white background that was roughly the same size as the circle of the wreath. I then added some clear acetate behind the circle, and used foam tape to give the card some room to shake.

The paper behind the shaker element is from the Pumpkin Spice Paper Pad, and I chose a fairly subtle print to help the wreath remain as the main focus. This pad has lots of rich autumn colours as well as splashes of teal blue in some of the papers, which I adore.

I’m looking forward to sharing another card with you very shortly. Until then, happy crafting!
Donna
